One of the League’s youngest provinces, incorporated in 2941 by Samuel Marik, Ohrensen fought bitterly to maintain its independence. The result was a province culturally and politically related to nearby Zion (both regions being “liberated” in the same political gambit that centered on the defection of Vincente Sian-Marik from the Capellan Confederation to the FWL), but which retains control of its own political and economic affairs. As an added benefit, sundering the former Capellan worlds into competing provinces undermined Sian-Marik’s power base.

In 2941 agents operating on behalf of Captain-General Samuel Marik convinced Vincente Sian-Marik to sign a treaty with the Free Worlds League transferring his allegiance and those of the worlds he administered to the League. In addition to being the planetary administrator of Kyrkbacken, Ohrensen, Suzano, Ventabren and Zion, Sian-Marik was a distant relative of the Marik line; while the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces garrisons on the five worlds didn't try to resist the transfer of worlds, they did engage in widespread scorched-earth operations on each world to inflict as much damage as possible prior to the transfer.

As a consequence the acquisition of the five worlds saddled the Free Worlds League with a significant and expensive rebuilding programme. Occupied by League forces, the inhabitants of Ohrensen fought the FWLM forces for years to resist the incorporation. Culturally, Ohrensen has a great deal in common with Zion, but unlike that world Ohrensen was allowed to control its own economy and internal politics.

Brutalized by Capellan scorched-earth tactics during the secession period, when withdrawing CCAF forces razed almost a third of the towns on the main continent, Rossonia, Ohrensen received massive investment in the mid-30th century, though endemic corruption siphoned off much of the money that flowed into the region. The net result was a world (and province) with a functional industrial and economic infrastructure, but whose population subsisted in conditions well below the League norm. The criminal gangs that sprang up during this era came to dominate planetary politics on Ohrensen and neighboring Ventabren, though today these so-called firms hide their activities behind legitimate businesses.

Through divided by bitter infighting (which frequently leads to a high body count), these groups acknowledge an overlord, Director Loew, who serves as the de facto planetary and provincial leader. Loew’s enforcers maintain a semblance of order within the “thugocracy” (which the federal government regards as a civilian dictatorship), though recent years have seen growing conflict with Capellan criminal groups seeking to expand their operations into “traditional Capellan territory.” Only in the wilds of the Padderborn Highlands on Rossonia and on the wide-open continents of Ulm and Salva do the criminal gangs have no influence. Here, however, the gangs’ violence and intimidation give way to pure lawlessness that leads most farmers and miners to go about armed. The summary justice of these regions is a stark contrast to the peace-by-intimidation of “civilized” Ohrensen.

EMPLOYER SITUATION REPORT:
Commander, you are on the cusp of history. Yours will be the initial forces of this Operation. Your forces will be unsupported on this operation so you will be required to make your own arrangements for insertion and extraction to and from the target world. All of our available transports are, how can I put this? Hmm. Our transports are otherwise deployed in the Celestial Wisdom’s five Commonalities. You will be remunerated for all of your travel expense. In lieu of ULTRA’s violation of the Star League Charter’s, Chapter VII, Article 40 with their Invasion of the Liao Commonality, you will be required to land on the world of Ohrensen and get an assessment of their Triad's might. You are not to engage any units near civilian settlements. You will receive the standard remuneration as well as standard salvage rights should you choose to undertake this operation.

Our current Intel indicates that the planet is not garrison by any FWL state sponsored units other than the Ohrensen Planetary Militia. We need your command to land on world to make contact with the unsavory elements of our Triad gangs to determine what support, if any, they are willing to commit to support a change in, uh hem, ‘Administration’ and to defend their assets. While your unit is on world, we would like for you to determine who’s court Director Shoga Leow’s fealty lies within, be it the ConMag, FWL, or even perhaps his own. If it’s anything other than the first one, we need you to engage Director Leow’s Planetary Militia forces and see what the Captain General sends to quell the disturbance. We would advise you to be prepared to make a tactical retreat in lieu of Marik dispatching an overwhelming force.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
1) Contact the Ohrensen Triads to ascertain their commit level to a change in Regime
2) Do not damage the planet’s profitable infrastructure

SECONDARY OBJECTIVES:
1) Gather intelligence on enemy troops & strength
2) Determine Director Shoga Leow’s allegiance
