Of Scottish descent, Angus was born on Skye, the second of five children,
consisting of two boys and three girls. His parents were farmers and the two
sons were slated to take over the family farm as their father grew older. Family
financial trouble when Angus was 18 precluded this from happening and Angus
joined the military.
Initially recruited into the infantry, Angus spent two years there and his
superiors were extremely impressed with his intelligence and he was chosen to
attend a military academy to become an officer. Unsuited for 'mech or aerospace
piloting due to his physical stature Angus was trained for a command in the
armoured divisions. Commanding from the front, usually in his favoured Shreck
PPC Carrier, Angus was well liked by both his superiors and the men in his
command alike.
At age 29 Angus was injured in a defensive campaign against Free World's League
troops. He spent six months in hospital recovering from his injuries. While in
hospital Angus met his future wife Eileen, who was one of the nurses assigned to
assist in his recovery, they married soon after Angus got out of hospital. The
time in hospital was not wasted, other than meeting his wife Angus also
discovered an aptitude for language, improving his basic German to fluent levels
and gaining basic Mandarin from a former Capellan Confederation orderly who
seemed to enjoy Angus' company. Angus and the orderly are still firm friends.
The first of Angus two children was born while he was on duty, something he
regrets to this day. He didn't miss the birth of his second child as he was also
in the hospital. Angus had found himself on the wrong end of a Jade Falcon
autocannon very early in the clan invasion and had come close to losing a leg.
The actions that led to the injury saw Angus decorated for bravery, though he
never understood why, he was simply doing his job. He still walks with a
pronounced limp.
The new injury would be the end of Angus' military career, but once again his
time in hospital proved fruitful. A member of the diplomatic corps was also in
the hospital and took an interest in Angus. His ability with languages secured
the deal and after sufficiently recuperating from his injuries Angus was
seconded to start his lifelong career.
Personality Profile:
Angus is larger than life, almost literally. He is a huge bear of a man with a
personality to match. His presence fills a room and it is not often that he
isn't the centre of attention. He comes across as a very likeable man and he
enters a room with the appearance of thinking that everyone there is his friend,
even if they haven't met yet.
Despite his apparent jovial nature, Angus is very intelligent and a shrewd judge
of character. He is a tough negotiator, but never overtly uses his size to
intimidate opponents. If they feel that way then all the better, but blatant
thuggery is not in Angus arsenal, it would come back to bite him eventually.
However, in the past year Angus has closed in on himself. The cause for this is
his wife dying from a contracted battle with cancer. Taking it very hard, Angus
turned to work and his grandchildren, whom he dotes upon, to help him through
the hard times. His two sons and his eldest son's children are the centre of his
universe now. For a short time he succumbed to the favorite of his heritage,
Scotch Whisky, but recovered and has not touched a drop since. He is strictly
non-alcoholic. His superiors have noticed the downturn and have been looking for
a new assignment to help Angus find his old self once again.
Despite being a Skye native Angus is a staunch supporter of the Steiner family.
He was devastated at the death of Melissa Steiner. Despite his loyalist
attitudes even he could not condone the actions of Katrina Steiner-Davion and,
although he had misgivings added his (substantial) weight to the forces of
Victor Steiner Davion for the FedCom Civil War. He has the utmost respect for
Victor, even more so since his decision not to take up position as head of the
realm. Angus loyalty now lays firmly with Peter Steiner-Davion
Angus is a very big man. This is accentuated by his long flaming red Scottish
hair and beard. He is always impeccably dressed in a business suit, of which he
has many. He carries a polished black cane with a polished silver handle to
assist with his limp. He never wears his military uniform as he sees that part
of his life as being behind him, besides, the people that he deals with know who
and what he is.
