PLANETARY DETAILS:
One of the Southwest Trinity Worlds, Galisteo is one of three planets in the Free Worlds League that were settled primarily by North Americans originating from southern United States, giving rise to a unique culture that espouses the mentality of the Old West frontiersmen coupled with Bible Belt conservatism with a healthy dose of belligerence and insularity thrown. While a planet of cowboys and ranchers may sound quaint, visitors are advised to tread softly around locals lest they be drawn into one of many petty, yet often violent, internecine conflicts that part of everyday life on Galisteo.

The planet itself proved conducive to such a lifestyle, being of temperate climate except for polar regions, and consisting of solely of a single super continent of endless plains peppered by expansive freshwater lakes the size of small countries connected by long winding rives. The single contiguous landmass, called Austin after the founder of the Texas Republic, wraps itself around most of the planet, hedging out its comparatively small saltwater oceans to its northern and southern hemispheres.

A technologically backward world, Galisteo's principal industry is large scale agriculture, taking advantage of its vast tracts of arable fertile land to become the breadbasket of the League's anti-spinward frontier. That said the planet is most famous for the massive herds of genetically modified super cattle that roam the countryside, including the notorious 5-ton Range Bull, a throwback to the prehistoric Auroch. Hundreds of head of cattle are herded daily into stockyards across the planet and processed into mountains of beef and leather for export.

Paradoxically, for such a rustic backwater, 'Mech proficiency is extremely high among its population as AgroMechs are vital to tending their massive herds and protecting them from the myriad predators that prowl the expansive wilderness. The other reason is that Galisteo is one of the worlds called home by the 17th Recon Regiment, a famous mercenary company more popularly known as Camacho's Caballeros.

Much of the planet's population is scattered in small settlements across Austin, ranging in size from isolated farmsteads to towns centered around a lone industrial complex, with the balance being in its sole city, Tombstone.

Employer Situation Report:
As the ULTRA war rages between the Free Worlds League and the Lyran Alliance the traditional jump routes through the galactic core have been disrupted and trade between both realms has virtually ground to a halt. The New Frontier Consortium, a group of companies from both sides of the border, hoped to establish new shipping lines through the League's Duchy of Tamarind and the Lyran Province of Alarion, far from the epicenters of the conflict. With the tacit support of both regional leaders, the Consortium in early 3094 begun to build facilities on Galisteo and Poulsbo to act as customs brokerages and transshipment points for trade going in either direction.

On Galisteo the Consortium selected the remote town of Galveston, located on practically the other side of the planet from Tombstone, expanding the small space port located there and building the attendant warehouses and other facilities to cater to mercantile traffic. Thus far the venture has proven lucrative for all parties concerned, with everyone reaping large dividends, whether through commercial profit, customs tariffs or other forms of valuable consideration.

Understandably protecting this vital crossing is of paramount concern, especially in light of it being barely a stone's throw away from two notorious pirate kingdoms, but unfortunately its clandestine nature prevents the assignment of line forces to safeguard the Consortium's assets. To this end the Duchy of Tamarind, would like to hire mercenaries to act on its behalf on the following matters;

1. Ensure the safety of Consortium property and personnel. While the principal danger is expected to come from pirates operating out of the Circinus Federation or the Marian Hegemony, the dangers of Galisteo or its bellicose population are not to be underestimated.

2. Assist in the fulfillment of one of its subsidiary's contracts with the Duchy of Tamarind to peacefully repatriate a number of paroled Lyran citizens who have proven unable to reconcile with the the Free Worlds League. The terms of the parole is that parolees shall be treated with all respect and dignity but shall otherwise constrained from leaving their place of resettlement until the conclusion of the conflict between the Lyran Alliance and the Free Worlds League nor shall they take up arms or give aid and comfort to any enemy of the Free Worlds League. Costs of resettlement and reasonable fees shall be covered by the Consortium.

While a small detachment of the 17th Recon Regiment is present on Tombstone in addition to the local planetary militia, prospective contractors should not rely on them for any support as their principal concern is the defense of the capital notwithstanding the vast distances between it and Galveston.

The Consortium, for its part, maintains a small security force of its own, a reinforced company of infantry backed by a lance of BattleMechs stationed at the space port while the town proper, which sits some distance away from the port, has a small but well equipped sheriffs' department that can easily raise a posse comitatus from the local populace, that includes several armed IndustrialMechs, should the need arise. That said contractors are advised of the tense relations between the Consortium and the local law enforcement, owing to the Galistean's own insularity and a number of untoward incidents involving Consortium employees.

While the contract on Merton was completed without much event, Marshall Photon Brett-Marik thought that the Stars might want to give employment within the Free Worlds League, especially in his Tamarind Military District another shot - this time hopefully by smashing some of those pirates and bandits that had been terrorizing his Duchy over the last 2 years.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
1) Ensure the safety of Consortium property and personnel.
2) Peacefully repatriate paroled Lyran citizens.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVES:
1) Assist the Tombstone defenders should they are in danger of being overwhelmed in the event of any raids - WITHOUT endangering Galveston and its population
2) N/A
