A lush tropical world settled by predominantly Greek colonists, Helen‘s great claim to fame has been its remarkably beautiful and extremely diverse undersea wildlife. Though land covers just over half the planet surface, broken into eleven large island-continents and numerous smaller islands, Helen‘s oceans are surprisingly deep, giving rise to a wide variety of sea life, including the Great Helenic Whale. This nonmammalian sharklike predator can grow to approximately four times the size of Terra‘s Great White, and dominates the waters of Helen‘s southern hemisphere.
In the days of the Star League, a sophisticated floating marine-life research platform dubbed Aquanis once studied the rich undersea wildlife of this world, but was sunk during the invasions brought on after the fall of the Star League. Rediscovered almost three kilometers below the surface of the North Helenic Ocean, off the coast of the Persephonie continent, this ―sunken city‖ has become one of Helen‘s major tourist attractions.
The planetary capital of Konstance is located on Joppa, the largest of Helen‘s continents, along with the bulk of the planet‘s lumber industries, the spaceport city of Corinth, and the military capital of Montague.
EMPLOYER SITUATION REPORT:
The ULTRA Conflict is winding down to a close. House Davion needs to determine how strong the new borders really are. We are authorizing a small unit a sneak-and-peak across the border to gather intelligence. We need to gather whatever we can on the force that Kurita has on world, their unit readiness, their disposition, and the unit morale.
Commander, you are on the cusp of history. Yours will be the initial forces of Operation Yellow Bird. Your forces will be unsupported on this raid so you will be required to make your own arrangements for insertion and extraction to and from the target world. All of our available transports are tied up in the Capellan and Draconis Marches. You will be remunerated for all of your travel expense. Your unit will be provided with a state-of-the-art satellite system that the Federated Suns wants deployed in geostationary orbit (at 36,000 km). You will be required to land on world and get an assessment of their military might in the planet's military Capital city of Montague located on Joppa. You are not 'required' to actually engage any units near civilian settlements. As a matter of fact, we would prefer that you did not.
You will receive the standard remuneration as well as standard salvage rights should you choose to undertake this operation.
