PLANETARY DETAILS: During the Marik-Liao invasion of 3057, Sirius & Procyon took over the local HPG stations and expelled all merchants and visitors from their systems, their nominal leader; Governor Alisendar Gyrn sent a short announcement to a passing trader that this new alliance was the 'Sirian Holds'. Due to the high level of conflict and problems in the chaos march and continued rivalries between the great houses these simple worlds have gone ignored. The Star League has recently passed the "Terran Security Act" which includes a buffer zone around Terra to protect the cradle of humanity from any future warfare. To this end certain worlds near to Terra need to be secured but it will be near to year before the SLDF Divisions are deployed to the worlds within jump distance of Terra. The SLDF High Command has given the go ahead for the higher of mercenaries. Intelligence on the world of Sirius is lacking but it is known that Governor Gyrn has slaughtered thousands of intellectuals and dissidents. Comstar has records that indicate that he may have severe psychiatric problems.
The planet's atmosphere is a
chill mix of hydrogen and nitrogen, the water is liquid ammonia. With a
surface temperature rarely above -40 Celsius. Open flame cannot exist in
this environment, though when heated the sub-zero chemical soup precipitates
oily, red-brown clouds of sulphur and nitrogen compounds. Interference from
Sirius's hot, young A1 star periodically raises havoc with communications. |
